This order also comes with an option to order a further 25 vehicles in the future.

The first 10 buses from this contract are already being delivered to AeroGround, the airport’s ground handling subsidiary. The remaining buses, including 12- and 18-metre models, will be delivered by the end of the year.

Alongside the buses, MAN is also providing a complete charging solution to support the transition to electric mobility.

Jost Lammers, CEO of Flughafen München GmbH said:

Sustainability is a key issue for us. We want Munich Airport's operations to leave no more CO2 in the atmosphere by 2035 at the latest. With the purchase of the MAN eBuses, we are taking another important step in this direction.

The new electric buses will be used on the airport apron to transport passengers and crews between terminals and aircraft. The larger 18-metre articulated buses will be deployed for routes with higher passenger volumes, offering additional space and efficiency.

The MAN Lion’s City E electric buses being delivered to Munich Airport feature a new electronics platform, including a fully digital 12-inch driver’s display.

In addition, advanced safety systems, such as radar-assisted turning aids and collision warning systems with pedestrian detection, ensure greater protection for both drivers and passengers.

Robert Katzer, Head of Sales & Product Bus at MAN Truck & Bus said:

We are delighted that another airport, Munich Airport, is relying on our MAN Lion's City E. It shows impressively that the eBuses are proving themselves in practical use in city traffic as well as in other areas of application.

The electric buses offer a range of up to 350 kilometres on each charge.

To recharge the vehicles, Munich Airport will install 40 charging stations, provided by SBRS in cooperation with MAN Transport Solutions.
