Alexander Dennis has announced the delivery of a major fleet upgrade of nine buses for Stephensons of Essex.
The upgrade project consists of six 8.9 metre Enviro100 single-deck buses built to order, as well as three 10.8 metre Enviro200 buses converted from existing stock.

Each vehicle has been upgraded to premium specifications with colour-coordinated flooring and USB charging points.
The six 8.9 metre buses feature 30 seats, whilst the three, longer 10.8 metre buses are equipped with 40 seats, and will enter service along Stephenson’s half-hourly route from Leigh-on-Sea to London Southend Airport and the Airport Business Park.
The new service is operated in partnership with Southend City Council, with operational funding provided by the Department of Transport’s Bus Service Improvement Plan.
Alexander Dennis previously delivered five Enviro400 double-deckers to Stephensons in January.
Bill Hiron, Chairman of Stephensons of Essex, said:We’re always impressed with the operational efficiency and performance of Alexander Dennis buses.
We’re especially proud of our role in linking Leigh-on-Sea to Southend Airport, a long-wished-for service that will support the community and make a massive difference to thousands of customers. The new buses are ideal for the job.
