The nine buses are part of a larger order of 35 Enviro500EV units for the MTR Corporation

A pre-production iteration of the vehicle first entered operation for MTR in June 2024, with additional vehicles following in January 2025, preceding the delivery of the remaining vehicles throughout the next two years.

Andy Boulton, Managing Director Asia Pacific for Alexander Dennis, said:

Our next-generation Enviro500EV has been designed from the ground up for the demands of Hong Kong’s world class transport system to deliver sizeable passenger capacity alongside operational flexibility.

We’re honoured to be the MTR Corporation’s partner for its bus fleet electrification and are delighted to continue the delivery of this major contract.

Designed completely in-house by Alexander Dennis, the Enviro500EV series comes fitted with the Voith Electrical Drive System, which offers a peak output of 410 kW and continuous outputs of up to 310kW. Each bus features a space for one wheelchair user, and every seat comes fitted with three-point seatbelts.
