Decked in Transport for London (TfL) livery, Alexander Dennis has displayed its Enviro100EV electric bus at Euro Bus Expo 2024.

Due to debut on London routes in Spring/Summer 2025, the single decker vehicle (nicknamed ‘The Big Small Bus’) is entirely battery-powered, with the capability to carry up to 41 passengers (21 seated).

Measuring 8.5 metres in length and 2.35 metres in width, the bus is intended to operate on the capital’s more narrow suburban streets, with the units compact sizing allowing for greater manoeuvrability.

The bus will be entered into operation on various routes, including the R routes in Orpington, and comes equipped with a Voith Electrical Drive System MD, optional roof-mounted rails for pantograph charging up to 118kW (236 kWh battery) or 117kW (354 kWh battery), onboard Wi-Fi, charging capabilities, air conditioning systems, four priority seats and one wheelchair space via an electric ramp.

To date, TfL has ordered 56 of the buses for operation within the city, with the first orders having been placed in November 2023.
