Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has confirmed that, for the very-first time, the city-region will receive a full bus service on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, with additional services also operating on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
The schedule improves on bus availability seen in previous years, which would typically see services stop early in the evening on both 24 & 31 December.

On Christmas Eve, all Bee Network routes will run to a normal weekday timetable, with some routes finishing slightly earlier and night buses finishing around midnight. Other operators will run to a Monday-Friday, a regular or revised Saturday timetable, with buses stopping from 18:00 onwards.
On New Year’s Eve, Bee Network buses will run to a Saturday timetable, with most routes running until their normal finishing and night buses running as normal. Several late-night journeys will also run on a number of routes across Greater Manchester.
Finally, on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, special enhanced timetables will run across a selection of routes to aid those needing to travel throughout the region.
Metrolink services will, except for on Christmas Day, run at least every 15 minutes every day between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day. On New Year’s Eve, trams will run every 12 minutes, with the last trams departing Manchester city centre at roughly 01:00.
Fran Wilkinson, Director of Customer and Growth at TfGM said:Public transport will keep Greater Manchester moving over the next few weeks. It’s a great, affordable option for people visiting loved ones or making the most of the shops, bars, restaurants and events in the city centre.
