At Busworld Europe, CRRC presented a fully electric double-decker bus for customers in Hong Kong, as well as global markets.

The model was designed in collaboration with operators in Hong Kong. It is 12 metres long, 2.55 metres wide, and 4.4 metres high, with a power output of 480 kW and torque of 5,100 Nm.

The double-decker has been developed with urban operations in mind, particularly in high-density cities such as Hong Kong, Singapore, and London. CRRC stated that the bus incorporates lightweight structural materials sourced from European suppliers, designed for strength, vibration resistance, and noise reduction.

During its press conference, CRRC highlighted its background in high-speed rail manufacturing, noting that many of the design principles and safety standards developed for trains have been adapted for its electric buses. These include platform integration, modular components, and the use of lightweight aluminium structures.

The company emphasised safety, comfort, and sustainability as its key values, stating that it is committed exclusively to electric mobility solutions rather than internal combustion engines. At Busworld, the manufacturer also unveiled its 100% electric EU12C intercity coach.

By introducing the EU12C and the double-decker at Busworld Europe 2025, CRRC underlined its ambition to expand its international presence in both intercity and urban bus markets. With Hong Kong as a pilot location for the double-decker, CRRC aims to bring its electric bus portfolio to wider Asia-Pacific and European markets in the coming years.
