At Busworld Europe, CRRC unveiled its 100% electric EU12C intercity coach. This launch reflects the company’s aim of applying its rail transit experience to road transport while focusing on safety, efficiency, and sustainable mobility.

The EU12C is a 12-metre electric coach designed to address common operational limitations in long-distance electric vehicles, such as restricted range and reduced luggage space.

The EU12C is equipped with a 440 kWh battery pack supplied by CATL, supporting a range of up to 550 kilometres. It operates at 800V high-voltage architecture, designed to improve charging times compared with standard 600V systems.

The coach uses CRRC’s in-house developed electric motor rated at 480 kW with torque of 5,100 Nm, enabling operation on varied terrain, including mountain routes. The turning circle of less than 18 m is intended to improve manoeuvrability in European cities.

Luggage capacity is 6.5 m³, enabled by the integration of the batteries into the floor structure.

Driver-focused features include a 12-inch control screen, electronic mirrors, and a 360-degree monitoring system.

CRRC highlighted its background in high-speed rail manufacturing, noting that many of the design principles and safety standards developed for trains have been adapted for its electric buses. These include platform integration, modular components, and the use of lightweight aluminium structures.
