MAN Truck & Bus has officially unveiled its long-awaited Lion’s Coach 14 E vehicle during a press conference at Busworld.

The 14-metre-long vehicle, which is the first fully electric coach from a European manufacturer, aims to represent a number of varied use cases such as day trips, regional journeys, airport transfers and shuttle services with its range of up to 650 kilometres.

Featuring 53 StyleLine Select seats; the coach boasts near-identical luggage capacity to that of a traditional diesel-based vehicle, and utilises both a MAN battery and its proprietary drivetrain technology, drawing on technology found in MAN’s series-produced eTruck.

The vehicle is equipped with solar panels on its roof, and has a usable battery capacity of 320–480 kWh, with a general power output of 330 kW. Its battery configuration consists of a minimum of four to a maximum of six packs.

It utilises MAN’s own Electric Central Engine MAN eCD330 technology, and was named as the winner of Busworld’s Digitally Enhanced Driving category during an award ceremony yesterday (02 October).

The vehicle is also equipped with a newly developed CO₂ heat pump air conditioning system, as well as MAN’s latest suite of Assistance Systems.

In addition to the new Lion’s Coach 14 E, MAN has also utilised its stall at Busworld to showcase a number of additional solutions, including four additional vehicles, including NEOPLAN’s Skyliner Auwärter Edition and Tourliner C, as well as the MAN TGE Coach minibus.
