Solaris has presented the Urbino 10.5 electric bus at Busworld Europe.

This compact two-axle bus, unveiled on the opening day of the fair, is intended for dense urban environments where shorter vehicles with high capacity are required.

At 10.5 metres long, the new model can carry up to 85 passengers, with seating for up to 33 in a 2-2-0 layout. The design eliminates the traditional engine tower, which increases available interior space and optimises weight distribution.

The bus’s turning radius is under 17 metres, which supports operation in narrow city streets and at busy junctions.

The Urbino 10.5 electric is powered by a 240 kW synchronous motor. Battery capacity starts at around 350 kWh, with options available above 400 kWh. According to eSORT testing, this enables a range exceeding 600 km, allowing for full-day operation without intermediate charging.

Traction batteries are roof-mounted, with charging possible either via plug-in connection or pantograph.

A number of optional and standard systems have been installed to meet current EU requirements. These include advanced driver assistance functions compliant with GSR2, such as blind-spot monitoring, intelligent speed assistance, pedestrian and cyclist detection, driver drowsiness alerts, and forward collision warning.

Additional features include the MirrorEye camera-based mirror replacement system and air-conditioning with a CO₂ heat pump, which uses a refrigerant with lower environmental impact.

The bus achieves a recyclability rate of approximately 97%. Key driveline and body components are standardised with those of other Urbino models, which is expected to simplify maintenance and spare parts management.

Operators can also use Solaris’s eSConnect telematics platform for fleet optimisation, remote diagnostics, and energy management.

The Urbino 10.5 electric complements Solaris’s existing zero-emission line-up, which ranges from 9-metre midibuses to 24-metre articulated trolleybuses, with battery-electric, hydrogen and trolleybus drivetrains.

At Busworld 2025, Solaris is also exhibiting two established vehicles: the Urbino 12 electric, and the Urbino 18 hydrogen, both of which have been recognised with European industry awards and are in service with operators across the continent.
