VinFast has unveiled two new electric bus models at Busworld Europe 2025. The EB 8 and EB 12 mark the company’s entry into the European public transport sector.
The 12-metre EB 12 is already certified under UNECE and CE regulations and is now available for order in Europe. The smaller 8-metre EB 8 is set to follow. Both models will be offered with an unlimited mileage warranty covering five years for the vehicle and up to eight years for the high-voltage battery and anti-corrosion protection.

VinFast has operated electric buses in its domestic market in Vietnam since 2021, with more than 300 vehicles in service across five major Vietnamese cities. The European launch extends this experience into new markets, with the company targeting Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, and Central and Eastern Europe.
EB 8
The EB 8 is designed for urban routes with narrow streets and heavy traffic. It is powered by a central motor producing up to 200 kW and has a maximum speed of 80 km/h.
The bus is fitted with a 359 kWh battery, providing a range of more than 290 km on a single charge under SORT 1 test conditions with air conditioning in use. Charging can be carried out at up to 120 kW.
It has a capacity for up to 60 passengers, with 24 seats, 35 standing spaces and one wheelchair area. Accessibility is supported by an electric wheelchair ramp and a dedicated space measuring 1,300 mm by 750 mm.
The EB 8 includes air suspension, automatic climate control, and safety systems such as ABS, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Brake Assist and Hill-start Assist.
EB 12
The EB 12 is a low-floor, three-door city bus designed for high-capacity urban transport. It can carry up to 90 passengers, with 35 seated, 54 standing, and one wheelchair space.
The bus uses two wheel-hub motors, each rated at 125 kW, for a combined output of 250 kW. Its maximum speed is 80 km/h. A 422 kWh battery provides a range of more than 400 km per charge under SORT 2 testing, supported by regenerative braking. Charging is available via a CCS2 port at up to 140 kW.
The EB 12 is equipped with dual-zone climate control using a heat pump, USB charging points, air suspension on both axles, and LED interior lighting. Accessibility features include a powered wheelchair ramp and a dedicated wheelchair space.
Standard safety technology includes ABS, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Brake Assist, Traction Control and Hill-start Assist. Advanced driver assistance features include driver drowsiness monitoring, blind spot detection, collision warnings, intelligent speed assistance, fire suppression and CCTV coverage.
Market Outlook
Production of the EB 12 will take place at VinFast’s factory in Vietnam, which has an annual capacity of 1,500 to 2,000 buses. Commercial operations of both models are scheduled to begin in 2026.
VinFast has confirmed plans to establish a distribution network in several European regions through partnerships, building on its strategy to expand from passenger vehicles into public transport. The company’s leadership has emphasised that its goal is to broaden access to electric mobility while contributing to sustainable urban development.
