These vehicles will join 140 battery-powered Solaris Urbino 12 and Urbino 18 buses that are already operated by BVG Berlin.

Christian Goll, Managing Director of Solaris Deutschland GmbH said:

I am extremely happy and proud, that we were able to secure the order for such a highly prestigious contract. Solaris has already provided a significant amount of battery buses to the BVG, which are in daily service on the streets of Berlin, thus contributing to a more sustainable environment within the city.

The Urbino 18 electric buses for BVG Berlin will be equipped with a 240 kW asynchronous motor and will be powered by energy from Solaris High Energy batteries. They will be capable of being recharged using both plug-in and pantograph systems.

The new units will also feature Solaris’ eSConnect software to increase operational efficiency and enhance vehicle servicing.
