BYD’s all-new B12 single decker electric bus is set to begin operation on Uno’s Route 690 inter campus shuttle service at the University of Hertfordshire.

Currently on display at Euro Bus Expo 2024 in Birmingham, the hot-pink all-electric shuttle bus will begin travelling between the University’s de Havilland campus, the College Lane university campus and Angerlands Park & Ride.

Measuring in at 11.8 metres, the single decker bus makes use of BYD’s own Blade Battery technology, touting a range of up to 310 miles, Dual Gun Charging up to 280kW and a battery capacity of up to 541kWh.

The vehicle is capable of carrying up to 93 passengers and comes equipped with BYD’s 6-in-1 Integrated Controller (with Silicon Carbide technology), two 150kW wheel hub hairpin motors, an Integrated Thermal Management System and an Active Suspension Control System.

Use of the inter campus service is free for university students, operating every 10-15 minutes Monday to Friday within term time, and every 20 minutes on Saturdays between 07:00 and 20:00.
