The Town of Oakville, Canada, has announced the introduction of 15 large capacity Nova LFSE+ electric buses into its public transport fleet.

Acquisition of the vehicles was made possible following funding provided by the Public Transit Infrastructure Stream (PTIS) of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP).

The new vehicles are set to enter service in February, joining the town’s previous set of 15 smaller capacity electric buses introduced in 2023, with an additional 12 and 32 small and large capacity electric buses due to be delivered by 2027, bringing the total number of electric buses purchased by the town to 74 by 2026.

Pam Damoff, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Consular Affairs), said:

I have been advocating for expanded and more accessible public transit in our community since my time on Oakville council, and I am thrilled to see the federal government investing in Oakville to build a greener, more connected city for everyone. The addition of 15 new electric buses will expand Oakville’s transit capacity, making public transportation greener while improving connectivity for residents.

Investments in fleet electrification not only bring Canada closer to net-zero emissions but also make it easier for people to connect with friends and family, access workplaces, and engage with their communities.

To mark the occasion, Oakville Mayor Rob Burton joined Pam Damoff, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Consular Affairs), members of Town Council and staff to celebrate the town’s continued investment in electric vehicles.

The new LFSE+ buses, manufactured by Nova Bus, measure in at 40-feet and are set to replace a portion of local diesel buses currently in operation. Each bus is equipped with batteries capable of travelling up to 350km on a single charge.
