Alexander Dennis has announced that CLP Power Hong Kong has launched the first of four of its Enviro500EV zero-emission double decker buses.

The company, which provides transport for employees commuting to and from its power stations, purchased the Alexander Dennis vehicles to replace its existing fleet of Euro IV diesel-powered Alexander Dennis Enviro500 units.

The order makes CLP the third Hong Kong-based bus company to utilise the Enviro500EV, which has been wrapped with livery showcasing green leaves and a ‘Pure Electric, Zero Emission’ message.

Each unit comes equipped with LED lighting and is powered by Voith’s Electrical Drive System, which combined with a set of 472kWh batteries allows for minimal disruption to passenger space, increasing overall capacity.

Michael Pothan, Head of Commercial Finance (Asia Pacific) for Alexander Dennis, attended the launch and said:

This latest delivery of Alexander Dennis Enviro500EV confirms our next-generation double decker as a favourite for Hong Kong’s operating conditions, and introduces it to the private bus sector for the first time.

CLP Power will benefit from its uncompromising design which is driving value through its focus on efficiency and longevity, while staff will enjoy smooth journeys to and from work.
