Credobus has completed work on the very first Hungarian articulated electric bus.

Following its reveal on December 18 2024, The Credobus Electronell, an 18-metre articulated electric bus, is set to launch into operation on public roads in early 2025.

Completely barrier-free; the Electronell 18 weighs in at under 16 tonnes, with an ultralight construction based on a steel frame structure and a 2-2-2-2 door configuration.

The vehicle features a low entry design, enabling the placement of two of its four batteries underneath the chassis floor, with energy storage provided by liquid-cooled NMC batteries developed by BorgWarner (Akasol).

Battery pack capacity itself has a total capacity of 392 kWh, and the vehicle’s heat pump management system has been supplied by Eberspächer, its electrohydraulic servo pump by DANA and its electrically driven compressor supplied by Knorr-Bremse.

Built to comply with European Union requirements for the General Vehicle Safety Regulation (GSR II), the buses were developed entirely in Hungary, and feature Credobus’ own high voltage power distribution system, the Credobus HVBOX, drive control software and passive cooling system.

The vehicle’s chassis, as well as the majority of metal parts used in its construction, was also developed by Credobus itself.

The company intends to run a test service for the Electronell 18 on MAV routes in early 2025, with details of the trial still to come.

A 12-metre model of the vehicle first launched in June 2024, entering testing on public routes in Győr, Hungary.
