The Škoda Group has delivered a set of eight new 12-metre Škoda 32Tr trolleybuses to the Teplice Municipal Transport Company.

Equipped with traction batteries, delivery of the new trolleybuses forms part of the first portion of a framework contract for up to 17 vehicles worth more than 290 million CZK.

The eight new vehicles form part of a larger framework for a total of up to 17 trolleybuses

All eight of the new vehicles are set to enter operation on Monday 22 December.

Karel Majer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Škoda Electric in the Škoda Group, said:

By delivering the first eight Škoda 32Tr trolleybuses to Teplice, we have completed the first stage of the project and it is great that it was done this way before Christmas as a gift for all the city's residents.

Teplice is one of the cities with a long tradition of trolleybus operation and at the same time one of those that is very sensitive to the requirements for modern, quiet and emission-free mobility. Our battery trolleybuses bring greater flexibility to the operator in planning routes and greater everyday comfort to passengers.

A fully-low floor, twelve-metre vehicle; the Škoda 32Tr trolleybus is specifically designed for urban public transport and features two axles, three doors and a capacity of up to 95 passengers with 35 seated.

The trolleybus is powered by an asynchronous traction motor with an output of 160 kW, powered from the overhead line with a voltage of 600 V or 750 V DC. All electrical equipment is located in a separate container with double insulation and high protection, which aims to increase reliability of operation in tough weather conditions.

The vehicle allows for the recuperation of braking energy back into the power supply system, and is equipped with a modern diagnostics system that provides the driver with an overview of operating values.

Each vehicle is capable of travelling up to 12 kilometres outside of the trolley line, thanks in part to its traction battery, which is charged directly whilst driving from the trolley line.

The cars are fully air-conditioned, equipped with a modern information system, check-in and camera system and offer a large interior to accommodate strollers or wheelchairs.
