Daimler Buses is expanding its electric mobility offering with a new focus on services to extend the life and value of electric bus batteries.
The company is also introducing battery remanufacturing for existing fleets and plans to offer replacement options with the latest-generation batteries from 2026.

This initiative is designed to support operators in using e-buses as economically and for as long as diesel-powered models.
Initially, services will focus on the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro, which has been in production since 2018 and will be upgraded to NMC4 batteries from 2026. These will provide greater energy density and longer range. Similar upgrades are being explored for the upcoming eIntouro inter-city bus.
Alongside physical upgrades, Daimler Buses offers a digital service portfolio to monitor battery health, inform operational decisions, and maximise battery longevity.
Warranties of up to twelve years will be available with new vehicles using NMC4 batteries, supported by a modular design that facilitates easier repairs.

Daimler Buses operates one of Europe’s largest e-service networks, with more than 100 locations equipped for electric bus maintenance and battery handling. It also supports second-life use of batteries for stationary energy storage, followed by recycling in partnership with industry initiatives.
The company uses both NMC and LFP battery technologies to suit different operating needs. It aims to offer a zero-emission vehicle for each market segment by 2030, with full transition to CO₂-free city bus sales in Europe by the same year.
