Daimler Buses has announced a new collaboration with Otokar Otomotiv ve Savunma Sanayi A.Ş. for the expansion of bus production capacities in Turkey.
The partnership will see the Turkish bus manufacturer build Mercedes-Benz Conecto city buses for Daimler at its plant in Sakarya from September 2026.

Thus far, the Mercedes-Benz Conecto has exclusively been produced at the Turkish Daimler Buses plant in Hoşdere.
The contract was signed by both Till Oberwörder, CEO of Daimler Buses, Suer Ismail Sülün, CEO of Mercedes‑Benz Türk A.Ş., and Aykut Özüner, CEO of Otokar during a meeting in Sakarya.
Till Oberwörder said:The sustained high demand for our products shows that buses are becoming even more important in society and that we offer our customers the right solutions. We are the clear market leader in Europe and Latin America – and with this cooperation, we can further strengthen our position by producing more vehicles overall. The increase in production capacity contributes positively to our profitability. Otokar is a highly valued and reliable partner in our industry with high manufacturing expertise.
By working closely together, we will ensure the familiar high level of Daimler Buses quality that our customers expect from us. We look forward to working together.
Daimler Buses will procure and supply all essential vehicle parts and components for the production of the Mercedes-Benz Conecto units.
Aykut Özüner said:We have extensive experience in bus production – both as a manufacturer and as a contract manufacturer – and have been successfully building high-quality buses for over 60 years. The partnership with Daimler Buses is a significant step for us to further expand our production, utilise our capacities even more effectively, and strengthen our position as one of the five leading bus manufacturers in Europe.
Our goal is to build a sustainable partnership with Daimler Buses.
