Daimler Buses has announced the installation of four public charging stations at Munich’s Central Bus Station (ZOB).
In order to carry out the installation, Daimler has signed an agreement with Wealthcap, both the real-asset and investment manager representing the owner of the Munich ZOB.

First announced in October 2025 as part of a pilot project with the city of Cologne; implementation of the new charging points aims to provide further provisions at highly visited tourist hotspots across Europe.
The installation will be carried out by Daimler Buses Solutions GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler Buses. The stations will offer power levels of up to 600kW, enabling very rapid charging. Each charger will be compatible with any electric bus brand.
Regular dwell times at the station including during passenger boarding and disembarking, ticket checks, or baggage handling, can also be used to recharge the batteries, reducing the potential of additional charging breaks or detours for bus operators.
Two stations are set for installation this year, with construction activities in the second quarter of 2026 to include civil engineering work, installation of high‑voltage cables, transformer installation, and foundation work for the charging stations. Commissioning is planned for later in 2026.
Steffen Germ, CEO of Daimler Buses Solutions said:E‑buses at the Munich ZOB can charge exactly where they already stop. Timetables remain unchanged, and charging time integrates seamlessly into regular dwell time. This makes deploying fully electric buses in long‑distance and intercity transportation significantly easier.
Daimler Buses also aims to support the overall wider development of public charging infrastructure for its first electric city bus, the Mercedes-Benz eIntouro, by constructing its own charging stations. This vehicle has been available to order since Spring 2025, and will be delivered to customers for the first time in the second half of 2026.
