First Bus has unveiled its brand-new, fully electric Glasgow Airport Express service with help from Scottish actor & professional wrestler, Grado.
A first for the city; the fully electric, zero-emission bus shuttle route now offers 24-hour services between the city centre and Glasgow Airport.

The newly-electrified route has been launched as part of a five-year contract extension for First Bus and touts travel times of 15 minutes per trip.
Graeme Macfarlan, Commercial Director at First Bus, said:The five-year contract extension to operate the Glasgow Airport Express signifies a major step in our commitment to sustainable transport and reducing our carbon footprint in Glasgow and beyond.
We are excited to offer both locals and tourists the opportunity to experience firsthand how dedicated our city is to embracing greener, eco-friendly solutions.
Representing an investment of over 5 million GBP, First Bus has also provided 11 new electric double decker buses for the service, creating, in its own words, an ‘Electric Avenue’ between the airport and city centre.
Lending his signature Ally McCoist impression to a new advertisement campaign; passengers travelling from Glasgow Airport during the service’s launch on 1 May will have the chance to win travel vouchers, Glasgow Airport Express tickets and goody bags handed out by the former Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) World Heavyweight Champion himself.
Sharing his excitement about the campaign, Grado commented:When I heard about the idea, I just thought it was a brilliant way to let folk know about this great new addition to Glasgow’s public transport network. You’re always buzzing when you’re going off on your holidays and it’s even better now knowing you can get to the airport in a way that’s helping the environment.
It’s a win-win for everyone. Absolutely Shuperb!
The buses, which form part of First Bus’ ongoing commitment to provide the city with greener transport alternatives, come fully equipped with onboard charging facilities and storage racks.
