Germany has seen the introduction of its first seven Urbino 9 LE electric buses in the city of Erlangen.

The Urbino 9 LE electric buses, delivered by Solaris, are powered by 100% green energy and are set to begin operation on the new CityLinie 299 route through the city centre in the coming months.

The vehicles are the first of their line to be introduced in the country

Capable of accommodating up to 50 passengers; the Urbino 9 LE features 21 seats for sitting travellers, with an additional 2 folding seats for those with wheelchairs or prams. The vehicles are powered by an electric motor, which draws its energy from batteries with a total capacity of over 250kWh located on the roof and rear of the bus. Charging of the vehicles is performed via plug-in-connectors.

The Urbino 9 LE is equipped with a slew of modern technology including MirrorEye, a system replacing onboard mirrors with cameras on the vehicle’s exterior and USB sockets for passengers.

The new buses join over 370 existing battery-powered Solaris vehicles in operation within the country.
