Budapest public transport operator Budapesti Közlekedési Központ (BKK) has announced that a set of five new Mercedes-Benz Citaro articulated diesel buses have now begun operating within the capital.
The new, low-floor vehicles form part of a transformation that will see BKK renew the capital with a total of 330 new buses by 2027.

The five new vehicles have entered operation on route 139 between Széll Kálmán tér and Gazdagrét from today (08 December 2025).
Owned and operated by ArrivaBus Kft; the buses have been equipped with a modern air conditioning system, on-board cameras, traffic recognition and a passenger information system.
The remainder of the new diesel & electric buses are set to arrive by 2027, rendering Budapest’s public transport network nearly 90% modern.
