Ehingen-based bus company Bayer has announced the addition of five new Mercedes-Benz eCitaro electric buses to its fleet.

The handover, which took place at Daimler Buses’ Neu-Ulm customer centre, also saw the delivery of two 18-metre Mercedes-Benz Citaro G articulated buses, both of which are equipped to carry up to 48 seated passengers with an additional two folding seats.

The 12-metre eCitaro buses feature a seating capacity for up to 36 passengers and are powered by a set of six NMC3 lithium-ion batteries with a total capacity of 589 kWh.

The buses contain a slew of driver assistance systems, including Frontguard Assist, which detects potential collisions and warns the driver in advance.

Managing Partner at Bayer, Sonja Bayer, said:

With the all-electric vehicles, we are making a significant contribution to promoting and shaping environmentally friendly public transport in our region.
