IVECO BUS has been awarded a tender for the supply of 580 vehicles for BusGruppe.

The tender, which includes the supply of 250 electric buses and their associated charging infrastructures, is set to be carried out over a 5-year period.

The tender is the largest electric bus order the company has been awarded in its history in Germany

The award’s inclusion of the 250 electric buses makes the tender the largest electric bus order IVECO BUS has won in Germany to date.

Giorgio Zino, Head of IVECO BUS Europe Commercial Operations, said:

We are proud that the BusGruppe has placed its trust in IVECO BUS with this major contract.

This order demonstrates the quality of our products. We look forward to supporting their transition with our sustainable, high-performance mobility solutions.

The buses, which are due to begin delivery in 2025 and will continue through to 2030, include up to 200 12-meter CROSSWAY Low Entry ELEC buses and 50 articulated E-WAY electric buses, all of which will be equipped with high-energy-density 69.3 kWh NMC battery packs, as well as up to 150 18-meter URBANWAY Hybrid articulated buses and 180 12-meter CROSSWAY Low Entry intercity buses.

BusGruppe has also specified unique options tailored to their market requirements, with additions including Intercity cantilever seating, video surveillance, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, USB charging ports and fuel-saving functionality.

Jan Behrendt, Managing Director of Verkehrsbetriebe Bachstein, the company which was responsible for the tender:, said:

By awarding the contract to IVECO BUS, the BusGruppe and the other partners involved in the tender see themselves on a good path into the future.

The continuous modernisation of the fleet and now also the entry into electromobility put us in a position to continue to develop in a mobility market characterised by increasing competition.
