Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has announced that Bee Network passengers will soon benefit from a new annual ticket, allowing unlimited travel on buses and trams for as little as 2.75 GBP per day.

Launching on 23 March, the multi-modal ticket offers substantial savings and convenience within Greater Manchester’s Bee Network.

Key Features of the New Ticket

The new ticket provides unlimited travel across the bus and tram network, with costs ranging from 2.75 GBP to 4.10 GBP per day, depending on the number of Metrolink zones chosen.

Customers can spread payments monthly or annually without additional charges, aided by Greater Manchester Credit Unions.

This initiative saves 15% compared to purchasing 13 separate 28-day tickets, equivalent to two months of free travel annually.

Affordable and Integrated Transport

This development aligns with Greater Manchester’s efforts to reduce transport costs and improve accessibility while bringing public transport services back under local control.

Alongside the annual ticket, daily and weekly capped contactless payments will also launch on 23 March, ensuring passengers never pay more than the specified maximum, regardless of the number of journeys.

For instance, unlimited daily travel across all zones will cost 9.50 GBP, with off-peak options offering further discounts.

The new ticket and capped fares build on the Bee Network’s vision of integrated, low-cost transport. The new offering, combining bus and tram travel, complements TfGM’s recently launched annual Bee Bus ticket, which provides unlimited transport on Bee Network buses for 2.20 GBP per day.

Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, said:

We’re making huge strides towards making public transport cheaper, simpler to understand and more convenient than ever before. We have delivered bus franchising on time and on budget, and with buses across the region now under our control we’re fast approaching our big moment in March when we bring in tap in, tap out payments and capped daily fares across bus and tram.

Everyone in Greater Manchester has a stake in it – you have helped to fund it. As more people have got on board our buses we have been able to deliver a lower than planned precept, which we will use to continually fund further improvements to the Bee Network.
