Highland Electric Fleets has been selected as the official electric school bus provider for the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games and Team USA. Around 500 zero-emission buses, together with charging infrastructure, will be deployed to support transport operations during the event.

The partnership will make use of school buses that normally sit idle during the summer months. For the Games, they will be repurposed to carry accredited stakeholders, forming part of the wider LA28 transport plan.

Highland will manage bus operations during the Games, including scheduling, charging, depot management and on-site technical support. The company will work alongside the LA28 transport team to maintain daily service across venues.

Duncan McIntyre, Chief Executive of Highland Electric Fleets, said:

Highland Electric Fleets is honored to partner with LA28 to deliver one of the largest deployments of electric school buses ever assembled for a global sporting event. Together, we're proving that electrification can meet the demands of the biggest stage in sports while delivering zero-emission transportation solutions and inspiring ways of thinking differently around transportation and infrastructure.

The initiative is part of LA28’s stated commitment to reduce the environmental footprint of the Games and to integrate sustainable practices into event operations.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said:

This partnership is a perfect example of what the 2028 Games are about – bringing together existing resources and demonstrating sustainable solutions while leaving a lasting impact for Angelenos. I want to thank Highland Electric Fleets and LA28 for their continued collaboration and efforts to deliver a successful and sustainable Games.
