The Hyundai Motor Company has announced the successful supply of 11 electric buses for Bali’s first electric public transportation initiative.
Delivered in partnership with local bus body manufacturer Laksana, the initiative aims to enable an expansion of electrification across Indonesia.

Led by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), in cooperation with Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment (MCEE) of South Korea and the Government of Indonesia; the project is the first electric bus public transportation deployment initiative in Bali.
The project aims to support Indonesia’s climate change response and greenhouse gas emissions reduction efforts whilst enhancing Bali’s image as a leading tourism destination. It follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the South Korean and Indonesian governments last year, which seeks to bring the two nations together to collaborate on a transition for Bali’s transportation system toward electric mobility.
During the second half of 2025, GGGI led a tender for the supply of electric buses – a tender which saw Hyundai Motor selected as the supplier based on its electric vehicle quality, after-sales service capabilities, and experience in ODA transportation projects.
The County EV buses, which were built by Laksana, were constructed using Hyundai Motor’s electric bus platform, and measure in at 8 metres in length. Each vehicle is capable of carrying up to 20 seated passengers, and features a 128kWh battery, which allows for a driving range of over 200km on a single charge.
Hyundai Motor has stated that it will continue to support the initial deployment phase of the Bali project through a dedicated EV Bus Field Quality Assurance Program, including the establishment of a local field quality situation room. It will monitor vehicle quality and driving performance as the buses begin service, supporting the project’s operation alongside the vehicle supply.
Chul Youn Park, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Commercial Vehicle and Light Commercial Vehicle Business Division, Hyundai Motor Company, said:We are pleased to contribute to Bali’s transition toward sustainable transportation through the supply of electric buses.
Building on our experience and growing presence in Indonesia, we aim to expand our electrified commercial vehicle business across key cities and regions in this country. Going forward, we will continue to pursue new business opportunities across the Asia-Pacific region, leveraging our competitive products and field support capabilities.
