Irizar e-mobility has entered into an agreement with London Gatwick Airport to supply a fleet of fully electric buses.
The contract covers the delivery of 14 Irizar ie tram vehicles, marking the introduction of entirely electric buses at the airport. Each vehicle measures 18 metres in length and will be used to transport passengers between long-stay car parks and terminal buildings.

The Irizar ie tram model features a design influenced by modern tram aesthetics, offering high passenger capacity and step-free access. The buses will also include luggage racks to support airport users’ needs.
These vehicles will operate using Irizar’s latest generation battery technology. Charging will be handled by an ultra-fast pantograph system, which is capable of fully recharging the buses in under six minutes.
For operational safety, the buses will incorporate digital vision systems aimed at enhancing visibility around the vehicle. This setup is intended to support drivers with clearer views to the front, sides, and rear.
This project forms part of Irizar e-mobility’s broader activity in the UK market. The company already has over 50 electric buses in service across several British cities.
