Irizar’s ie bus Efficient has been named the 2026 Bus of the Year by the jury of the National Transport Awards.
The awards ceremony took place at the Novotel Madrid Center hotel in Spain, and was host to a wide number of industry figureheads, not least of all Iñigo Azcona, Commercial Director for Spain and Portugal at Irizar e-mobility, who collected the award on behalf of the company.

First unveiled in October 2025; the ie bus Efficient marks the fourth Irizar bus to have received the award from the jury of the National Transport Awards. In 2015; the i2e received the award, and three years later in 2028 the Irizar ie tram earned the distinction, before the new generation Irizar ie bus won the award once more in 2021.
The bus, which is available in three variants of 10-, 12- and 18-metre versions, measures in with an overall weight reduction of 1,000 kg – an achievement secured by way of a new structural concept, which also makes it possible to increase overall passenger capacity.
With wider doors and aisles, the vehicle has been designed to improve accessibility for all, and also achieves a 10% reduction in overall energy consumption thanks to the introduction of a more compact engine and a new generation of more efficient batteries.
