Isuzu Motors Limited will unveil its latest next-generation fuel cell (FC) route bus, the ERGA FCV, at Japan Mobility Show 2025, which will be held at Tokyo Big Sight between Thursday 30 October and Sunday 09 November.

The vehicle, which has been developed in a joint partnership between Isuzu and the Toyota Motor Corporation, generates electricity by inducing a chemical reaction between the hydrogen stored within its tanks and oxygen from the air within its FC stack.

Use of the new FC technology aims to reduce refuelling time, which Isuzu claims remains a key issue with existing BEVs.

Based on the urban model of the ERGA EV; planning, development and design of the flat-floor route bus was handled by Isuzu, whilst Toyota took charge of the development of the new FC system.
