IVECO has announced the successful delivery of twenty-nine E-WAY electric buses to ATM S.p.A., a public transport operator in the city of Messina.

The delivery forms part of a wider fifty-four-vehicle procurement contract awarded under the Consip framework agreement, with the first units consisting of a mix of 9.5-metre and 12-metre E-WAY models configured for depot charging.

In total, fifty-four vehicles will be delivered to ATM S.p.A.

The remaining set of vehicles, which are now in production, will consist of a set of twelve 18-metre articulated E-WAY buses, all of which will be fitted with pantograph charging systems.

All new buses will be equipped with Intelligent Transport Systems, which will allow for real-time fleet monitoring, the support of operational planning and enable precise performance management.

The vehicles themselves have also been developed to meet the operational needs of Messina, and sport new passenger information systems that aim to both improve comfort and enhance travel experiences. They come equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, and have been designed to support greater accessibility needs with the inclusion of a dedicated wheelchair area and boarding ramp.

By June 2026, an additional eighteen electric buses are scheduled for delivery, which will consist of twelve articulated vehicles primarily assigned to the Shuttle line and six eight-metre buses.
