Karsan is presenting its Autonomous e-ATAK electric bus at three major events in Germany and Portugal this September.
The manufacturer is currently showcasing the vehicle at IAA Transportation in Hannover, Germany from 17-22 September. Here, visitors can experience Karsan’s Level 4 Autonomous e-ATAK during test drives.
What’s more, Karsan is a featured exhibitor at European Mobility Week in Lisbon, Portugal. At the event, the manufacturer is highlighting the environmentally friendly features of the Autonomous e-ATAK.
Next week, Karsan will also present its autonomous bus at InnoTrans in Berlin. This trade fair will include hands-on demonstrations of Karsan’s autonomous technology.
Karsan CEO Okan Baş said:Expos and conferences provide valuable opportunities for Karsan to directly engage with customers and business partners. This month, we will showcase the Autonomous e-ATAK at three events in Germany and Portugal, giving visitors the chance to experience autonomous technology firsthand on real roads. Our goal is to increase awareness of autonomous technology in public transport across Europe.
The Autonomous e-ATAK has been developed with Karsan’s technology partner, ADASTEC. It stands out as the world’s first and only 8-metre Level 4 autonomous bus.
The vehicle is currently involved in 10 projects across eight global locations. This includes its operations in Stavanger, Norway, where it carries ticketed passengers.
In early 2024, the autonomous bus successfully navigated a tunnel, becoming the first autonomous vehicle to do so.
In addition to its deployment in Norway, the e-ATAK operates in Finland, the USA, France, Romania, and Turkiye, accumulating 90,000 kilometres of driving experience and serving over 30,000 passengers.
Looking ahead, Karsan plans to further expand its operations. In 2025, Autonomous e-ATAK will begin carrying passengers in Arbon, Switzerland, marking the city’s first autonomous bus service. It will also conduct the world’s first autonomous airport transfer in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
