The Kiira Motors Corporation has announced that its 13-metre electric coach, the Kayoola E‑Coach 13M 2025, has officially completed a journey spanning 13,700 kilometres across Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana, Eswatini and South Africa.
Dubbed the Made in Uganda Pearl to Cape Electric Expedition 2025, the journey was completed on 28 December, having begun on 20 November following a flagging-off ceremony officiated by the Hon. Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala.

The trip was both developed and completed in partnership with the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC), Makerere University & Technology Consults and corporate associates MTN Uganda & Britam Uganda, the former of which provided the journey’s connectivity solutions in the form of a bespoke 4G/LTE network, offering real-time telematics and total asset visibility.
Achieving an overall efficiency of 0.79kWh per kilometre, the vehicle avoided the production of over 6 tonnes of carbon emissions during its journey, which saw it travel from Kampala to Cape Town and back to the Kiira Vehicle Plant in Jinja over a 40-day period.
