Amongst the locations visited; the inspection included time spent at several public transport facilities, such as the Salmaniya Bus Station, which is being developed with the support of stc Bahrain.

Once completed, the station will become the first digital bus station in the Kingdom of Bahrain, marking a milestone in the Kingdom’s support of the National Transport Strategy and advancing digital transformation within the local transport sector.

The initiative aims to reinforce Bahrain’s position as a leading regional hub for both smart and sustainable mobility.

During her visit, the Undersecretary emphasised the Ministry’s overall commitment to the further enhancement of public transport projects across the Kingdom whilst also continuing to expand partnerships within the private sector – which will aid in the achievement of strategic transportation objectives.

She also noted that the Ministry is now actively working on the review and development of an integrated public transport network that will, in the future, connect bus services with the planned metro system.

Such an integration is expected to improve traffic flow, reduce carbon emissions and support economic development by facilitating more streamlined access to workplaces, educational institutions, and essential services.
