Long Beach Transit (LBT) has ordered 30 battery-electric Xcelsior CHARGE NG 40-foot buses from New Flyer of America, a subsidiary of NFI Group.
Serving southeastern Los Angeles County and northwestern Orange County, LBT operates across a 100-square-mile area, completing over 6.9 million service miles annually and delivering more than 17 million passenger trips.
This latest contract builds on a nearly 30-year relationship between LBT and New Flyer, during which more than 300 buses have been delivered.

The Xcelsior CHARGE NG bus incorporates high-energy batteries for extended range and reliability, advanced battery packaging for easier maintenance and installation, and a lightweight electric traction drive system capable of recovering up to 90% of braking energy.
These technologies will support Long Beach Transit’s efforts to reduce emissions and transition to next-generation vehicles.
