Motor Coach Industries (MCI), a subsidiary of NFI Group, has received an additional order from Metrolinx for 97 diesel-powered commuter coaches to operate in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
This second order builds on a previous purchase of 80 vehicles confirmed in early 2025, bringing the total number of MCI D45 CRT coaches ordered by Metrolinx to 177.

Metrolinx, a provincial transit agency operating in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA), is investing in expanding and renewing its coach fleet to meet increasing demand for regional transit services. The coaches are expected to support service delivery as the GTHA continues to experience population and employment growth.
The D45 CRT model is a 45-foot commuter coach designed for high-capacity, intercity operations. The vehicles are equipped with accessibility features and are designed for long-distance passenger comfort.
Paul Soubry, President, MCI said:This repeat order is a powerful vote of confidence in MCI’s commitment to quality, reliability, and customer support. Metrolinx is driving forward an ambitious transit expansion in Canada, and we are well-positioned to help power their efforts by delivering safe, comfortable, and efficient mobility solutions.
The new coaches will be used to replace ageing fleet vehicles and to help accommodate ridership growth.
