On 22 October, Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez joined federal, state and local officials to inaugurate the Miami-Dade County Metro Express Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) System.
The new BRT system spans 20 miles, running from South Miami to Florida City.

The Metro Express BRT connects multiple communities across South Dade, providing a faster and more efficient public transport option. The system is designed to improve travel times and support regional mobility, with dedicated lanes, modern vehicles and enhanced stations along the route.
It will serve 14 new stations stretching from the SW 344th Street Park-and-Ride to Dadeland South Metrorail Station.
Each air-conditioned station includes level boarding, real-time arrival displays, free Wi-Fi and bike storage. The all-electric buses provide a roomier, more reliable ride, with charging ports, bike racks inside the bus, and easy boarding through all doors.
Metro Express was developed as part of the SMART Programme, reflecting Miami-Dade County’s long-term commitment to modern, sustainable infrastructure.
