More CNG-Fuelled Solaris Buses in Spain: 57 Urbinos for Auvasa

Solaris buses will roll out onto the streets of another European city. This time it is Spanish operator Auvasa, which provides transport services for Valladolid, that has decided to purchase vehicles made by Solaris. The framework agreement covers the supply up to 57 CNG-fuelled Solaris Urbino buses.

Solaris Bus & Coach Sp. z o.o. will deliver up to 57 buses fuelled with compressed natural gas to the Spanish city of Valladolid. These will include up to 35 12-metre and up to 22 articulated buses. Public operator Auvasa, which provides transport services in Valladolid, has opted for vehicles made by the manufacturer under a framework agreement stipulating deliveries in the years 2021-2024. They will be the first Solaris buses ever in the city. The contract’s total value exceeds €20 million.

Member of the Management Board of Solaris Bus & Coach for Sales, Marketing and Customer Service, Petros Spinaris, said:

“Every new customer makes us proud and is the best proof of the high quality of our products, which meet a host of diverse expectations. I am really pleased that low-emission Solaris buses will ply routes in a city with such a fascinating history and treasured historical buildings. This meeting of history and modernity will become a perfect symbol of our cooperation.”

At the heart of the vehicles ordered by the Spanish carrier will be an engine adapted to use compressed natural gas (CNG). The driveline will be supplemented by an automatic transmission to ensure optimal travel comfort for drivers and passengers. Five CNG storage tanks will be mounted on the roof above the front part of the vehicle.

The Solaris brand has been solidifying its position in the Spanish market and vehicles made by the manufacturer are making their way to more and more cities. Spanish clients are primarily interested in the comprehensive range of vehicles with alternative drives. This year alone, EMT, the transport company of the Spanish capital Madrid, decided to purchase 250 CNG-fuelled buses, while Urbino 18 electric buses recently delivered to Barcelona (TMB) will be joined by 30 articulated hybrid vehicles.
