Throughout the month of March, NFI Group subsidiary New Flyer has secured orders for a total of 323 of its Xcelsior buses across North America.
Orders include deliveries for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), Durham Region Transit (DRT), York Region Transit (YRT) and the Maryland Transit Administration.
As part of the series of orders, New Flyer has signed a contract to deliver 42 Xcelsior 40-foot hybrid-electric buses for the SFMTA in a procurement aligning with Buy America requirements, supporting domestic manufacturing jobs.
Further up the country; New Flyer Canada will supply seven Xcelsior CHARGE NG 40-foot battery-electric buses and 36 Xcelsior 40-foot clean-diesel buses for DRT as part of two firm orders alongside an order of 121 Xcelsior® clean-diesel transit buses for YRT.
Finally, the Maryland Transit Administration is due to receive 50 Xcelsior® 40-foot hybrid-electric buses and 20 Xcelsior CHARGE NG™ 40-foot battery-electric buses, as well as an additional 37 Xcelsior 40-foot hybrid-electric buses and 10 Xcelsior CHARGE NG 60-foot battery-electric buses.
The Xcelsior bus comes in a range of lengths including 35, 40 and 60 metre models with a range of propulsion options.
