Niederrheinische Verkehrsbetriebe AG Relies on a Charging Management System from PSI Transcom

Ensuring optimal vehicle availability

The Niederrheinische Verkehrsbetriebe AG (NIAG) has commissioned PSI Transcom GmbH to deliver a load and charging management system with integrated vehicle dispatching. The goal is the gradual transition of the fleet from diesel to electric buses, contributing to sustainable mobility. The system will be implemented at the depot in Moers.

The load and charging management system optimizes charging processes, minimizes energy costs, and smooths load peaks. Additionally, it increases vehicle availability by efficiently utilizing the charging infrastructure and improving bus dispatching. The seamless integration with existing applications, such as the operational control system (ITCS), allows for centralized management of all operations in a 24-hour service.

The system supports vehicle dispatching, optimizes the use of parking and charging spaces, and provides real-time overviews of vehicle status. It is flexibly scalable and takes into account future expansions of the bus fleet as well as technological advancements. The load and charging management system captures and analyzes operational data, providing valuable insights for performance optimization and supporting informed decision-making with detailed reports and real-time analyses.

With the implementation of the load and charging management system, NIAG aims to sustainably reduce operating costs, maximize operational efficiency, and actively contribute to reducing its ecological footprint. This strengthens the company’s position as a leading mobility provider in the region and further drives the transformation towards an emission-free future.

NIAG is the largest mobility provider in the lower Rhine region, serving 36.5 million passengers annually. It operates an extensive bus network and increasingly relies on an environmentally friendly fleet to actively shape the transition to an emission-free future.

The PSI Group develops software products for optimizing the flow of energy and materials for utilities and industry. As an independent software producer with more than 2,300 employees, PSI has been a technology leader since 1969 for process control systems that ensure sustainable energy supply, production and logistics by combining AI methods with industrially proven optimization methods. The innovative industry products can be operated on-premises or in the cloud.
