As part of Greater Manchester’s transition to the Bee Network, the region is providing free bus travel for 16 to 18-year-olds across the city region through the Our Pass offering.
Since its introduction in 2019, more than 170,000 young people have benefitted from Our Pass, which offers free bus travel as well as discounted tram fares and access to exclusive offers and experiences.
The Bee Network prioritises affordable and accessible travel for all, featuring value fares such as the 2 GBP single fare, lower prices for 7- and 28-day bus passes, and a new annual pass offering unlimited bus travel for just 2.20 GBP per day.
However, for many young people, Our Pass provides a significant lifeline, removing financial barriers to travel and opening up new opportunities.
Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has therefore confirmed that the offering will continue under the region’s newly franchised Bee Network.
17-year-old Chinemelum Chinyelugo, a student at Trinity Sixth Form College said:Studying full time can be difficult because you afford most things you’d like to do. Our Pass helps me manage my finances and saves me well over £50 a month, which is a substantial amount as a student.
Our Pass means free bus travel to and from my college. It allows me to manage my time, go out meet up with my friends, revise better and keep up the good grades!
