Solaris Bus & Coach has signed a new contract with GZM Metropolis for the delivery of 42 of its Urbino electric buses.
Polish operator PKM Świerklaniec is set to receive 24 Urbino 12 electric and 18 articulated Urbino 18 electric buses, with Solaris also fully responsible for the supply and commission of depot charging infrastructure to accommodate the new vehicles.

The new vehicles and all associated infrastructure are scheduled for delivery during the second quarter of 2026.
GZM Metropolis previously awarded Solaris a contract for the supply of 23 electric buses in 2022, which were subsequently delivered to operators in Katowice, Gliwice, Sosnowiec, and Świerklaniec in 2023.
Both the Urbino 12 electric and Urbino 18 electric models are equipped with a modular drive, and have been designed without an engine tower, increasing passenger capacity inside the vehicle.
The 12-metre Urbino 12 electric models are capable of carrying up to 70 passengers, with the articulated models able to carry up to 120.
All buses will be powered by an electric motor supplied with energy from Solaris High Energy batteries with capacities of 600 kWh in the 12-metre models and 800 kWh in the articulated models.
Charging for the buses is handled via a plug-in connector, which in turn is equipped with a system that shows real-time charging information.
The buses will also be fitted with a range of driver assistance and safety systems, including a speed assistant, camera monitoring system that covers both the bus interior and exterior, passenger counting technology and double USB ports for passengers.
PKM Świerklaniec has opted for the eSConnect fleet management system, which will allow for advanced telematics and predictive diagnostics.
