Scania UK’s workshop in Grimsby, Lincolnshire has partnered with Totalkare to improve its vehicle maintenance capabilities by installing eight ATEX-approved mobile column lifts.

These lifts are designed for vehicles involved in transporting petrochemicals, helping the workshop comply with safety standards for potentially explosive environments.

Each mobile column lift has a lifting capacity of 7,500kg and uses an electromechanical system to provide reliable performance in industrial applications. Scania UK’s decision to invest in these lifts reflects its focus on safety, efficiency, and meeting regulatory requirements.

Nigel Champion, Project Manager for Scania UK, said:

The addition of these ATEX-approved lifts has been a valuable upgrade to our workshop. Their design and ease of use have improved our ability to service vehicles safely and effectively. Totalkare’s support during the installation process was excellent, ensuring everything was integrated smoothly.

ATEX is a European Union directive that governs equipment used in environments with flammable gases, vapours, or dust, aiming to reduce ignition risks. By using these lifts, Scania UK ensures compliance with these safety standards while improving its capacity to handle vehicles operating in high-risk environments.

The lifts have been specifically chosen to address the unique demands of maintaining vehicles used in the petrochemical sector. These vehicles often require specialised equipment to ensure that maintenance can be conducted safely and efficiently. The robust design of the lifts and their ability to handle heavy loads make them an essential addition to Scania UK’s workshop.

Brian Young, National Accounts Manager for Totalkare, said:

We’re pleased to have worked with Scania UK on implementing these ATEX-approved lifts. This collaboration allowed us to meet their specific operational needs and enhance their workshop’s capabilities. It’s always rewarding to see our solutions making a tangible difference in such critical environments.

This development aligns with Totalkare’s range of services and equipment designed to support the varied requirements of commercial workshops. By adopting this equipment, Scania UK continues to strengthen its approach to safety and operational efficiency in the transportation sector. The partnership also highlights the importance of collaboration between equipment providers and workshops to ensure the right tools are in place for the job.

As vehicle technology and safety standards evolve, investments like these help workshops stay ahead of regulatory demands while maintaining high standards of service. Scania UK’s commitment to upgrading its facilities demonstrates its dedication to both its clients and its workforce, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment for all.
