Midland Bluebird, part of the McGill’s Group, is set to introduce 30 Yutong battery-electric single-deck buses to its operations at the Larbert depot.
The vehicles, supplied by Pelican Bus & Coach, are part of the company’s transition to zero-emission transport.

These buses follow previous deliveries of Yutong models to McGill’s Buses in the west of Glasgow. To support their introduction, infrastructure upgrades will be carried out at the Larbert facility. The investment, valued at 14 million GBP, is partially funded by the Scottish Zero Emission Bus challenge fund, through which McGill’s Group will deploy a total of 42 vehicles alongside supporting infrastructure.
McGill’s Group has highlighted the role of vehicle and network improvements in its business strategy. Since acquiring Midland Bluebird from First Bus in 2022, the company reports an 8% year-on-year increase in passenger numbers.
McGill’s Buses CEO Tony Williamson said:Our strong passenger growth is proof that these efforts are making a difference. Now, with the launch of our electric bus fleet, we are taking another major step in delivering cleaner, greener and more comfortable transport for the communities we serve.
McGill’s has previously introduced Yutong electric buses, which the company says have been well received by passengers. The latest procurement represents the third order of Yutong vehicles by McGill’s Group.
Ian Downie, Head of Yutong Sales at Pelican Bus and Coach commented:This is the third tranche of vehicles that McGill’s have ordered from Pelican. It is a testament to our partnership that further vehicles are being delivered in 2025.
