Manchester coach operator Selwyns Travel has expanded their in-house repair and maintenance capabilities with the installation of a vehicle inspection pit from workshop equipment experts Totalkare.
Founded in 1968, Selwyns Travel offers a range of quality transport solutions including corporate, private coach hire, contract services, schools & colleges and group days out throughout the UK.
The installation of Totalkare’s vehicle inspection pits will significantly improve Selwyns Travel’s service and repair capabilities. Totalkare’s vehicle inspection pits are CE-certified and fabricated to order in lengths to suit workshop requirements, from six metres upwards. The pits feature fully braced external walls of 5mm thick welded recessed steel pressing, with a 6mm thick pressed durbar floor, which is sloped slightly towards a central sump for effective drainage. Selwyns Travel has invested in a 17-metre vehicle inspection pit, allowing their skilled technicians to work efficiently underneath vehicles, ensuring thorough inspections and facilitating more complex repair tasks. Enhancing the pit is an air-operated pit jack, also supplied by Totalkare.
Alongside the vehicle inspection pit is a set of six T8AC cabled mobile column lifts, again from Totalkare. Capable of lifting 7,500kg per column, the T8AC features adjustable forks to accommodate a wide variety of wheel diameters, while the columns can be used in groups of 4, 6 or 8 to provide a truly versatile and mobile vehicle lifting solution. Crucially, the T8AC column lifts offer Selwyn Travel the ability to service the underside of a second vehicle while their inspection pit is in use, doubling capacity in the workshop.
