Solaris has received an order to supply four 12-metre Urbino hydrogen buses to Artois Mobilités for the TADAO transport network in northern France.

The new buses will be delivered at the start of 2025 and integrated into the carrier’s fleet to help decarbonise operations around Lens and Béthune.

The tender for the new vehicles was issued by public transport authority, Artois Mobilités in collaboration with the Transdev Group and the French central procurement office for public transport, CATP (Centrale d’Achat du Transport Public).

Brice Bonavia, Director of Solaris France said:

There are a number of arguments in favour of hydrogen. First of all, it is absolutely emission-free during operation. Additionally, there are significant advantages such as long ranges, a fast refuelling process, flexibility in managing a fleet of hydrogen vehicles and a distinguishingly quiet ride. I congratulate Artois Mobilités on this decision and look forward to our cooperation.

The Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen will be equipped with fuel cells with a total power of 70 kW mounted on the roof.

They will also feature Solaris High Power traction batteries, which support the fuel cell during peak electricity demand.

What’s more, the buses for Artois Mobilités will have high-efficiency air conditioning using a heat pump and will leverage Solaris’ eSConnect monitoring and remote fleet management system.

The new buses will also comply with GSR2 standards, and will thus include a system to inform the driver when road users are present in the vehicle’s blind spot.
