Stagecoach has submitted plans for a new and improved ‘depot of the future’ at its site in Stockton, with consideration now in the hands of Stockton Council.
The operator’s North Eastern branch has asked for planning permission to build a new bus depot on the current site, replacing the existing building and installing a three-storey office building, as well as new bus wash facilities, fast-fix lanes and bins.

Having recently installed the necessary equipment to electrify 66 buses; Stagecoach has stated that the current depot is in a ‘state of disrepair’, with the existing buildings deemed too large to serve their intended purpose.
Additional plans for the space include a think tank for engineers, as well as a separate entrance for engineering workshops.
The redeveloped site is set to be considered the ‘blueprint’ for future depots, with Stagecoach planning to integrate electric vehicle infrastructure across its 43 sites by the start of 2026.
