200 Stagecoach workers are set to strike in Cambridge this Christmas period as Unite has announced action over the holiday.

The action, according to Unite, is the result of a reduction in overtime rates, with workers recently having rejected a pay deal that would see overtime rates fall by 12% between Monday and Friday and 20% on weekends and bank holidays.

Workers will strike on 17, 20, 22, 24 and 27 December, impacting bus services across the city during a crucial period.

Unite has stated that industrial action is set to escalate if the dispute is not solved.

Unite General Secretary Sharon Graham said:

Stagecoach is a profitable company and can absolutely afford to offer a pay deal that does not reduce overtimes rates. Stagecoach’s Cambridge workforce has Unite’s full support in taking strike action to achieve that.
