Conventional Drives
Urbino
Urbino is the name of a family of fully low-floor city buses that premiered in 1999. Solaris Urbino buses are a composition of stylish design, reliable and practical solutions and the guarantee of safety and eco-friendliness. Their unique look is defined by the characteristic curved windscreen. Not only is this a distinctive design element, but it also gives the driver better visibility of the nearside kerb, increasing the safety of passengers waiting at the bus stop. The Solaris Urbino bus with conventional drive is equipped with engines that meet the highly restrictive Euro 6 norm.
Urbino Low Entry
The Urbino LE family combines the advantages of low- and high-floor buses. The low floor at the front and in the middle of the bus ensures that passengers have easy access, while the high floor in the rear means all seats are facing forward. This means Solaris low entry buses are not only suited to urban operation, but perform equally well as suburban or intercity buses. This extremely versatile and functional Urbino Low Entry is highly popular among operators of suburban bus routes. An additional benefit for users of low-entry Urbinos is the unification of these models with Solaris’ low-floor vehicles.
InterUrbino
The Solaris InterUrbino was designed for intercity bus operation. Its universal design combines the best solutions of Solaris’ city buses with features more commonly found on coaches. As a result this bus is perfect for both shorter and longer routes. Comfortable seats with reclining backrests, adjustable armrests and spacious, aesthetic luggage racks above the seats provide comfort for passengers for both shorter and longer routes. The InterUrbino can also be adapted for use as a school bus.
MetroStyle
The new metropolitan design that can be applied to almost all bus and trolleybus models – of any length and with any kind of driveline. Solaris is able to ensure the same passenger load for vehicles in the MetroStyle design, as for the standard edition ones. In spite of the new front design of the bus, the producer will maintain the same work space comfort for drivers – in terms of seat position and driver cabin ergonomics. Instead of conventional mirrors, Solaris will offer innovative cameras which will surely enhance the drivers’ comfort, but above all safety.
Low Emissions
Urbino Hybrid
The Solaris Urbino hybrid are equipped with a driveline consisting of an electric engine or engines and a conventional drive. Using this solution the buses manage to reduce fuel consumption by 20 to 30% on average, compared to a Diesel-fuelled vehicle. What is more, Solaris’ hybrid buses can also be adapted to cover a certain distance completely emission-free. Solaris has hybrid systems in serial or parallel version on offer. The energy storage unit in Urbino hybrids can be both batteries as well as supercapacitators.
Urbino CNG
The low-floor city buses Urbino come also in the form of vehicles with Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) drives. Thanks to this solution it was possible to substantially reduce the emission of noxious substances. The Solaris Urbino CNG constitutes a combination of stylish design, reliable and practical technology and a guarantee of security and environmental-friendly use. The buses get their unique look thanks to the characteristic, slanting line of the front windscreen. The window constitutes not only a distinguishing stylistic element, but it also enables the driver to better see the edge of the boardwalk on the right side of the vehicle, thus increasing the security of passengers waiting for their bus at a stop.
