SWITCH Mobility has dispatched the first 10 electric buses to Mauritius as part of a 100-unit order.
These vehicles are provided as a gift from the Government of India to the Government of Mauritius under a Government-to-Government amicability.
A formal ceremony in Mauritius marked the handover, highlighting the cooperation between the two countries in the area of sustainable public transport.

The 12-metre SWITCH EiV12 buses were manufactured at SWITCH’s facility in Chennai and reflect the company’s “Make in India, for the World” initiative. The buses are designed for urban commuting, with capacity for up to 45 passengers, and include features aimed at improving safety, operational efficiency and passenger comfort.
These vehicles were supplied through a tender conducted by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), and will be operated by the National Transport Corporation (NTC), Mauritius’ state-owned public transport provider.
RG Venkataraman, Chief Commercial Officer at SWITCH Mobility, said:We are proud to deliver our SWITCH EiV12 electric buses to Mauritius, a key milestone that brings our 'Make in India, for the World' vision to life. The SWITCH EiV12 buses, which integrate advanced global technology with the strength of Indian manufacturing, support Mauritius' vision for a sustainable and healthier future. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to clean mobility, enhanced urban transport, environmental preservation, and improved quality of life for Mauritian citizens. Through our intelligent technology, we are dedicated to empowering Mauritius with smart, efficient, and eco-friendly transportation solutions that will drive progress towards cleaner, more resilient cities.
The EiV12 platform is equipped with floor-mounted lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries designed to offer vehicle stability, as well as an integrated Fire Detection and Suppression System. Other features include SWITCH iON, the company’s telematics platform for real-time monitoring and fleet management, and a rear-mounted dual-gun charging interface that helps optimise charging operations and depot space usage.
The deployment supports Mauritius’ efforts to reduce emissions from public transport and increase the share of electric vehicles in the national fleet. It also marks a step in SWITCH Mobility’s ongoing expansion into international markets, as the company continues to export electric buses from India to other regions.
